In mandatory military service, a young Sharl woman must thread the line between protecting her advanced telepathic abilities from the government while also protecting her people from and ancient enemy. This is her ship's log as she travels through inter-dimensional space, cataloguing the dimensions and the people therein, until the crew of the Excalabur come across the Dark, the ancient enemy of Sharl that drove them from their home dimention. The Dark had become almost legend, now, they may destroy the Sharl completely.
