Myths and monsters collide with climate chaos in a page-turning fantasy featuring friendship, science, and suspense. Winter refuses to let go. The first day of spring has come and gone, but sleet, snow, and even a tornado continue to batter Brooklyn, New York. Their science teacher says climate change may be causing this chaotic weather, but classmates Edward, Feenix, Danton, and Brigit suspect older, more magical forces are at work. When a peculiar character who calls himself Superintendent Tiltersmith shows up with a keen interest in the four friends, their suspicions are confirmed. Swept up in a battle of wits and courage they aren't at all sure they possess, the foursome find they have been appointed to protect a set of mysterious tools that belong to the Lady of Spring. If they can discover where she is being held prisoner and set her free, winter can end. But if the Tiltersmith, with his far superior powers of enchantment, steals the tools away, he will finally accomplish his most cherished goal: to keep the Lady in his power and undo the balance of nature forever.
