"Drawings+" extends the earlier, 2007 book, "Drawings", also by Mel Strawn. Covering the period from the 1940's to 2016, it focuses on drawing and its relation to other media, especially digital and solar printmaking. Critic and art historian Michael Paglia: "...these drawings cover a lot of aesthetic ground...but if Strawn's stylistic sources seem vast, his choice of subjects is even more wide-ranging. ... This adventurous swing in sensibilities suggests that the drawings and other paper pieces might be Strawn's alter-ego as compared to the well-established persona he has conveyed over the years through his paintings." Included are paintings and prints, including solar intaglio and digital prints as well as drawings and the artist's writings weaving it all together.
