Britain 2029 is a dangerous place; the rich live in gated streets in the cities protected by security guards; the poor live elsewhere, bartering and smuggling goods to survive unless they are fortunate enough to work for the gangsters like Terence Lawless who has his own private army. Aubrey East arrives and upsets Lawless's son in the pub. The next day he meets Adel who he has been flirting with over the phone. It is love at first sight but Adel is going out with Freddie Lawless, the son and heir. Invited to go swimming, Aubrey is horrified when Freddie drowns and he is accused of the murder. Only with the help of Major Tom can Aubrey survive.
