I could try and deny that I don't watch the Kardashians on TV or that I don't have an interest in what is happening every time they appear in the news, but that would be a lie. The Kardashians are important for this current culture and the future will see the whole family as part of cultural studies throughout academia. There are many strong opinions about the Kardashians from the haters and the admirers, and one thing is for sure: they are influential. And, this is one reason why I made this book. I've done a lot with Twitter and I wanted to change things up a little, so I went looking through Instagram. The Kardashians were the first choice, but it was Khloé who ended up being the point of my focus because she wrote a lot more in depth about her life, family, and everything. Her Instagram is riddled with images, hashtags, and emoticons, which I stripped down. I took off the makeup, the filters, and put her Instagram posts into just text. It's raw and it's open, and you can see some poetic moments reminiscent of Dadaism and the focus on consumerism from the Pop Art days. But, also within the poetry, you see a love for fans, family, and self that is truly inspiring. There were no changes in spelling or wording. The Instagram posts were just turned into plain text and some line breaks were added. The poetry is all Khloé.
