No centemporary religion has manged to ignore the challenge of modern science. Belief Transformations is a case-study of two different new religions in the West, both derived from Hinduism, Transcendental Meditation and the International SOciety fro Krishna Consciousness. WHile TM has attempted to demonstrate the benefits of meditation on ´scientific´ grounds, secularizing, a religious a tivity to the point where it bcomes acceptable to modern rationality ISKCON has gone the other way, rejecting the scientific world-view altogether.
