The present book is a step forward to capture current insight of animal husbandry practices in India. It takes a view on structural bottlenecks in the concerned government organizations of the state and central governments, perception of stakeholders including NGO's, innovation at international levels; and the issues to be addressed and the policy support required for the development of forage resources in the hilly as well as the plain agro-eco regions of the country. The book also takes into account organic/inorganic forage production technology, forage conservation and its utilization, mitigating natural calamities like drought and flood with emerging challenges of climate change and reducing availability of land. It also describes the potential use of forage in non-ruminants. The 11 chapters in this book are an attempt to provide a comprehensive approach to enhance forage resources and their utilization in the country.
