"How Evolution Works (and why it matters to us)" is not a textbook - it is a "polemic" (an aggressive attack on or refutation of the opinions or principles of another/others). Richard Showstack not only explains evolution in an easy-to-understand way but also discusses how the "unseen hand" of evolution affects how societies develop and how social policies affect that development. Part One explains and discusses how life began and how evolution works. Part Two, discusses how Darwin developed his Theory of Evolution and how people have reacted to it. Part Three discusses how evolution, natural selection and adaptation work. Part Four considers some implications and ramifications of what has been discussed. Part Five considers how evolution is related to our views on morality. Part Six is a summary of what has been discussed. In Part Seven, the author challenge himself to respond to some "philosophical quandaries, qualms, and questions" about what he has written. Showstack does not avoid controversial ideas. "How Evolution Works (and why it matters to us)" is a VERY politically incorrect book!
