Andy Meltan, a gifted, nationally renowned author and consultant, enjoys a luxurious life with his wife and daughter in Solana Beach, California. He appears to have it all but is beleaguered by The B. F.?The Bad Feelings?that haunt him from childhood.

Growing up in poverty in DuVal, New York, Andy and his alter ego now coexist with memories of The Event, a brutal teenage attack seventeen years ago that is still so disturbing: at times, Andy can barely function physically or emotionally. His scarred face is a constant reminder.

When Andy receives news that the boy, now a man, who tried to kill him has been released from prison, his nightmare comes alive.
