Challenge to Survive, Unit I Editor

These texts are for a junior high school course on Flathead Reservation history. The set includes contemporary documents and twentieth century interviews with tribal elders to emphasize eyewitness memories and personal experiences. Unit IV was completed in the winter of 2011 and Unit V is currently under development.



Unit I: From Time Immemorial: Traditional Life, Pre-1800


Describes traditional Salish and Pend d Oreille lifeways through the memories and stories of tribal elders such as Pete Beaverhead, Louise Lumprey, Paul Antoine, and Johnny Arlee. Includes extensive Salish language vocabulary to accompany the text.
