Isaac Teller spent most of his life preaching the Word of God. He was devout in his Christian faith, living and breathing the passages of the Bible. But God wasn't there the day the Grey Jackals invaded his community. In hopes of seeing justice served and finding peace of mind, Isaac witnesses the public hanging of the gang after their capture. When only emptiness is there to greet him afterward, the preacher leaves behind his white cloth and sets out to rediscover who he is and what has become of his faith. In the company of a former whore, a freed slave, and a foreign dentist, Isaac travels the deserts and forests of Oregon. A journey which will set him on the course for an inevitable confrontation with an enigmatic stranger and a fiery fundamentalist reverend that will test everything he believes in. Set against the perilous Oregon lands of 1878, Breathed Out by God is as violent as it is hopeful.
