This novel contains both From Night On: Awakenings and Pathways. Awakenings: It is the end of times as far as anyone is concerned. The dead have come back to life, but not like how the world is losing its mind over. They are our friends, family, and loved ones and they know who they are, but that hasn't stopped extremist groups from springing up. The undead are demonized and the living who are close to them are being used as "bartering chips" against the risen. My name is Les and I was there in the cemetery when the first of them set foot on the earth. He was my best friend. I was there for his funeral. It's understandable why everyone would be frightened, but things have gone too far. We have been on the road, running from an extremist group that is trying to get to my friend, at least, that's what I thought at first. It turns out that my part in all of this was a lot bigger than I could have ever feared and I'm terrified. Fear is what drove me to run. Fear is what kept my feet moving. It was the wisdom of others that pointed me in the right direction. Now, with the guidance of my wonderful wife and the masters and legends we've met, I'm finally accepting my part in this Apocalypse. Pathways: It has been a long road and we have gained and lost good people along this journey. The undead aren't as invulnerable as we originally thought. We've learned that The Dark Man was once a friend of ours. His name was Rav, but who he was is not the entity we are running from. My name is Hessa. While Les is lost in the spiritworld, I'm carrying his laptop that somehow is continuing his side of the journal. I and a couple new friends are trying to make our way to Tibet through war stricken lands and communities on the brink of starvation. I've had to reveal my true self to my companions. It was scary at first. I didn't expect them to understand, but, if I hadn't, someone would have died. My drive to help led to my own imprisonment in a hell unlike any and my journey has evolved into a battle to rediscover myself. Thankfully, I've met just the right person to help me come back: Fox.
