This is a story about a young boy, Alexi, who, along with other European wide Orphans whose families had been decimated by war survive against all odds in both war and peace. As a young boy, Alexi suffered the trauma of losing not only his first family to war but also his second, then finds himself in an orphanage where he learns to grow up and fight for what he believes is right. As an old man, reflecting on his memories takes the reader from the Komi Forest region in the Ural Mountains of Russia to the streets of Leicester in England then onward to all parts of the world. On this journey he meets, fights, loves, and lives with a variety of people from all walks of life. Under the auspices of the man he and his comrades called the Colonel; Alexi rises from the lower ranks of the British Navy through to a senior position in the military. His journey takes the reader through a variety of conflicts, some of which are more known to the world than others.
