The Ascension bankrupted and collapsed the world's governments. When the corporations took over, the populous was divided into two socio-economic segments; the wealthy and powerful and everyone else. Ravenisovich Nicholi Wolfgang the Third, and his brother in arms, Francis Jarrell, have taken a year off after successfully handling a small matter with a big corporation. On the job for a year, the pair find themselves wrapped up in a blood soaked mystery after someone breaks into the vault they are guarding. A purloined blueprint for a world wide defense weapon, a cybernetic monstrosity, and a man who isn't quite who he claims to be lead Ravenwolf and Bowser on a city-wide manhunt. When plans to prevent the rebuilding of the weapon prove successful, Ravenwolf and Bowser set a trap to capture the man they are hunting. When the attempt falls apart, as with everything Ravenwolf plans, a new level of chess is revealed. Ravenwolf and Bowser, for good or ill, find themselves on their own in the depths of The Ghetto. Aided by Jimmy, a mechanic, and Lauren, a supposed descendant of the Ralph's by Lauren family, Ravenwolf and Bowser once more find themselves in the degenerating slums of the Lower Deck, trying to figure out who is friend and who is foe.
