A young man leaves school to set up a small computer repair shop and ends up as a partner in a successful Glasgow software company. But his company steals data from its customers, and it was all funded by a Glasgow gangster in the first place. Now Martin McGregor wants out. The only thing standing in his way are his employers. Oh, and the Romanians he managed to annoy. And the police in the three countries. What he doesn't know is that an Fbi agent has picked up the trail of cybercrime and is very interested in this Scottish company which seems to be at the heart of it. Martin's personal life isn't any better than his professional one, and his current relationship is under some strain. Meanwhile, some ex-colleagues, and the enigmatic young Charlene, have their own issues. Martin ends up in Orkney, waiting to be found, and unable to think of a happy ending to all of this.
