Zeke Lawson intends to spend his life in the serenity of the Valley but finds himself savagely ripped from the life he loved by an unstoppable event. Miscalculations not only destroy the farm where he grew up, but also separate him from his wife. After his recovery, Zeke leaves the safety of the Valley to get her back. But during his travels through two Territories he finds the meteors have not stolen his dreams, merely replaced them, with new ones. His new life lures him in directions he has never considered before, exciting him even as it confuses him. After returning to Bartley Valley he is plagued by dreams of people he has never met, and skills he has never before known. The dreams soon draw him into a world of mistrust and violence. As turmoil spreads across the Continent, Zeke convinces himself the Valley's 'silent zone' will keep them safe. But Fate is a determined ally and he soon finds ignoring the future will not stop it, only prolong the consequence.
