Publisher Marketing: They say the average value of a stay at home mom is in the six-figure range but in posh Pinnacle Beach California, the value of these moms seems to go up as their size goes down. ALICE SMYTHE is not that kind of mom yet, but desperately wants to be. When her husband Mel accepts a promotion and moves the family to Pinnacle Beach, she joins a Darwinian mommy and baby boot camp to shed weight, make new friends for herself and her son and fit into the Pinnacle Beach mold. But when Alice's husband has one too many late nights at work and messes up Date Night, her hijinks lead her to spying on her husband and falling for a beguiling surf instructor. With two new friends in the making, Alice butts heads with Steffy, the cattiest alpha female in boot camp and discovers not only is Steffy an enemy from her and Mel's painful past but also married to her husband's geriatric boss. Shrinking a few sizes, gaining them back via bacon chasers, and making friends with questionable behaviors of their own are all a part of Alice's new terrain, but what she can never let go of are memories of her mother who abandoned her as a baby. Rocking out to old Pearl Jam tunes or getting the better of Mel's frat buddy from Hell can only do so much. In the end, Alice must face her fears or lose everything she holds dear.
