The novel tells of a young man who has the imagination and courage to follow his dream of becoming an actor in Hollywood. From his home in Hightstown N. J. he travels across the country, having a fateful encounter with the devil in Breckinridge, Colorado. "The dreamer" as he is referred throughout the story, finds friends who help him learn to read signs and follow his heart. "I chose some of the characters in this story from several of the worst criminal acts ever commited against humanity.
