Publisher Marketing: A thriller collection of poetry and prose that delves the dark places of the human psyche as well as the highs of humour and wit, 'Myriad' is just the anthology of short stories you have been looking for. From the crime mystery that seems to follow Detective Robert Laxton even when he's on holiday in Scotland to the mystery and suspense that surrounds a divorced woman and her new pen friend, and also with a selection of poems written by the author, 'Myriad' is a true work of art. While on holiday in Scotland, Detective Robert Laxton is called on to help solve the case of a woman's brutal murder, and that is just the beginning. How will he cope when faced with the mystery and suspense of a body found in the aftermath of an arson attack, or when forced to confront the dark places of the soul when he goes head to head against the leader of an international drug smuggling operation? Woven with tales of murder, drama and romance this anthology of short stories represents the best of a bright new voice in the crime mystery genre. Aside from the adventures of Detective Robert Laxton, this thriller collection of poetry and prose includes the heartwarming story of two people who have lost their partners brought together by change, and the hilarious, accident-filled journey boat journey along the Witham and the Trent. Contributor Bio:  Barrett, Ernest Born in Sheffield, Ernest Barrett was the eldest of seven children. He was called up for National Service in 1948 and after signing on, spent six and a half years in the R. A. F. After leaving the forces he took a job at the steel works in Rotherham. He later moved to Lincolnshire after suffering a life changing accident at the steel works in 1968. After struggling to cope with his injuries he eventually got a job with the Skegness council, where he stayed until his retirement in 1995. After an Open University course he took up writing poetry and short stories. Although he didn't complete the course (much to his regret) it was a great help. This was followed by him joining the Skegness Writers.
