As a British resident for the best part of my life, it feels a safe, welcoming place to live, with a soft pull that captures the imagination of people from across the world. But just beneath the surface, something is truly rotten in the state of the United Kingdom, and like most countries, it is no stranger to the evils and horrors of criminal deeds.
Since its formation by the Act of Union in 1707, the United Kingdom of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland has endured more than its fair share of troubles. From sick child murders and abuse through to terrorist acts, political assassination and some down-right brazen armed robberies, the country has borne witness to some truly horrific crimes.
