Tommy Jones had always thought of himself as being a pretty average kid. Just another perfectly normal, typical twelve year old boy; no different from any of the other kids at his junior high school. Okay, so he was adopted, but that didn't really make him different. And then there was Gavin McInnes, who had been picking on him since he had been old enough to go to school, but there were a lot of people who were the targets of bullies. His parents didn't make much money and they didn't live in a fancy house, but they got by okay. Under the circumstances, it wasn't surprising that Tommy had never even considered that there might be something special about him. That was until the day he found what looked like a shimmering glass ball on the field at school. Even that might not have been very significant except for the fact that the ball followed him, like it wanted him to pick it up. So, he did. I mean, wouldn't you? But after he did, nothing was ever the same again, because when he stared into the ball he found himself on a spaceship talking to a man from another planet, another galaxy, and learned that he was anything but average, normal or typical.
