Thaddeus Cleaver, an ex Parliamentarian soldier, experiences a roller coaster of fortune when, employed as a body bearer in the plague year of 1665, he is bequeathed a commodity more valuable than gold. Meanwhile the serving girls at London's fashionable new chocolate houses are being ritually murdered. Thaddeus links the murders to a hedonistic cult, and subsequently falls in love with Lizzie, a chocolate girl. Through her he learns that at Le Puits de Chocolat, there is more spice on offer than just in the beverages. This is the first novel by Bob Sanderson and does contain adult content.
