Having been brought up within a family of Travelling People in rural Perthshire and settling into learning a trade with the village blacksmith, Euan Stewart at the tender age of 18 years was called up for National Service and entered the vast world of the military. After the stress of army training, Euan was posted to the Far East where clashing with bandits on the Chinese Border, serving with Britain's only Mule Pack Company while transporting food, ammunition and general supplies to Gurkha Soldiers protecting the border, created dangerous, exciting and adventurous times. His life however was soon to change when through an injury, he met Millie, a young nurse serving in the British Military Hospital on Hong Kong Island.
