Duty Done
R C MC Dowell
Since the Japanese military during the Second World War fought to the death, Allied prisoners were treated like sub-humans. War prisoners, except in the Philippines, were housed in isolated locations in inhuman conditions. Allied military could not logistically place troops at risk in rescue attempts until late in 1945. Thus, prisoners were left to die from inhuman treatment for years on end. Forgotten and abandoned possibly, but not by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI).
