Franklin Pierce (1804 - 1869) was an attorney who also became a Brigadier General during the Mexican-American War. Prior to becoming President, Pierce served as both a Member of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. This work brings together President Pierce's four State of the Union Addresses delivered between 1853 and 1856.
