Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi (1208-1273) was a 13th-century Persian poet, a Sufi mystic and one of the greatest spiritual masters and poetical intellects. Rumi is a mysterious and provocative poet. The English translation of the Mathnawi appearing in this book was prepared by one of the greatest Rumi scholars and translators in the English language, Reynold Alleyne Nicholson.
