Damon´s grandmother is an extraordinary half-Austrian, half-German lady who lives her life just the way that she wants to. One day she tells her grandson Damon and his friends how she won a Gold Medal for skiing, way back in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was there that she not only met the love of her life but also the Greatest Charming Stinker Ever. Damon´s step-father is also a Charming Stinker and, when he has her put in an Old People´s Home, she plans to escape using the same magic that she used when she escaped from Nazi Germany in 1938. This is a beautifully told war-story and love-story, as well as being about skiing, animals and even dinosaurs. Most of all, it is about how Magic can help Love conquer Evil.
