WHEN AN AMERICAN GETS PUT INSIDE THIS MEXICAN JAIL
HE HAS TWO CHOICES: ESCAPE OR DIE.

TAGGART, a fading soldier of fortune, pulls off the stickup of the century until a double cross puts him behind bars in Mexico?s most notorious prison, where his captors employ a world-class torturer to extract his secrets. There he meets and teams up with?

VICTOR, a professional playboy whose rich wife would rather see him in jail than in another woman?s bed. So with one vicious act of betrayal she puts him in the belly of the beast. All because of?

DELILAH, the sensational and beautiful matador, who courts danger with the same passion she feels for Victor, and will risk her life in pursuit both?

THREE for the money, with all the power corruption can buy closing in behind them. Because the millions in cash are still where they were hidden...

FROM THE ELEGANT YACHTS OF ACAPULCO'S SUPERRICH
TO THE DANK CELLS OF MEXICO CITY'S LECUMBERRI PRISON, FATE HAD THROWN THEM TOGETHER?TO PLAN A DARING ESCAPE AND GET WHAT THEY WANTED MOST: MONEY AND REVENGE.

A DEADLY RENDEZVOUS
Victor whirled and plunged toward the balcony, praying the glass doors beyond the curtains were open. He heard Consuelo scream and saw her race naked out of the bedroom as her husband lunged at him with a sword. Then Victor was past the curtains and tumbling over the balcony, falling gracelessly onto the poolside patio a dozen feet below, where late afternoon guests were still sipping margaritas. He regained his feet and darted between the tables, past the pool, and down a dozen concrete steps into the sea.

The Boca Chica Hotel fronted on a small, sheltered inlet with neither surf nor beach. Victor, who could swim like a porpoise, simply stroked away from the hotel toward the bay, with no immediate idea other than escape. He did not look back but swam straight out with a rhythmic ease that belied the panic roiling in him. He was naked in the ocean with a long swim ahead of him and a lunatic waiting back on shore. Just for openers

Publisher?s Weekly

"In Arthur Hansl's A Call From L. A. the murder of ex LAPD detective Jon Storm's former partner ultimately takes on conspiratorial proportions international in scope. The hunt is exciting. . . a relentlessly suspenseful story."

Bob Weiner, Newsday

?A real gem . . . a thrilling murder mystery, peopled by some of the kinkiest characters ever to appear between hard covers . . . packs a wallop . . . Hansl writes with a style reminiscent of Raymond Chandler and Ross McDonald and with an equally full dose of robust humor.?

Albuquerque Journal Magazine

?This well-crafted story reminds us a little of Sam Spade and a lot of The Manchurian Candidate, which is high praise indeed.?
