Though an old injury keeps him from going there himself, he is responsible for overseeing and funding the expedition. But something in what has been found disturbs him, and he decides to head north to seek consultation with his benefactors. A near perfectly preserved body of an ancient predator known as the Dinofelis, once believed to hunt mankind but thought by many to be a myth.
