This book, Dynasty's Fall is the second in the series of "A Return from the Stars" trilogy. This science fiction/fantasy novel follows the events that occur after the SIL11 returns to our solar system which were described in Into Oblivion. Former crewmembers who have returned from an interstellar voyage now face the reality that their beloved solar system is in the hands of malevolent and omnipotent overlords, whom are deciding the fate of the mankind. Some of the crew now resides in the lethal atmosphere of Venus under the protection of a hidden military base. However, this military is totally helpless in aiding the vast inhabitants of Earth and Mars as they watch in horror the fates of those inhabitants. The overlords are baffled regarding the recent disappearance of one of their own vessels and engage in an investigation to determine its fate. One of the young children from the interstellar voyage crew undergoes a metamorphosis on Venus which she claims is under the guidance of her deceased father. In parallel, the former captain of that crew once again ventures into space on one the military's secret missions. These two individuals including a rogue overlord may actually threaten the overlord's dominance of this solar system. But two large fragments from a destroyed asteroid, now planet killers are on course for both Mars and Earth, so the planetary clock is ticking.
This novel is approximately 103,000 words in length and though it is a complete work on its own, it only answers some of the questions raised in the first novel, Into Oblivion, but a third novel will complete the story.
