Dunkel Wallen is an elf struggling to cast aside his dual-natured personality. Is the youngling good or evil, kind or thoughtless? Does he desire to move through the world of man and aid those who are downtrodden, or does he wish nothing more than to sequester himself from a world born in chaos and steeped in corruption, vice and misery? Yes.



Born of uncertain parentage he is thrown into the role of servant and forced to cope with the degrading treatment his fellow elves heap upon those who lack heritage. From his most formative years Dunkel learned the cruel truth of his "kinsmen" The kind and free-spirited elves are in reality the most vicious creatures in all the realms. Regardless of how hard he works or how diligently he studies, the moniker of "bastard" dogs his every step.



Breaking free from the bonds of his elven community Dunkel moves out into a foreign world haunted by vague memories of the mother whose face he's never seen. Voices along the farthest edge of consciousness call out to the young elf as he struggles to make his way through a world he finds to be mostly good but sadly dominated by those holding evil intent.



The die is cast. Yesterday is gone and beyond any ability to recall. Tomorrow is yet unborn and lies out of reach even to the most powerful. Today calls out to Dunkel as he attempts to carve for himself a place in this new and exciting world. He yearns for acceptance and hungers for love. Dunkel Wallen is The Smiling Elf
