Enclosed in a cocoon of horror Rose struggled to breathe. She reached for any solid structure to keep upright. The wind continued to tickle the candle flames as they dripped green wax all over the birthday cake. Thoughts raced as John's lifeless body lay immobile on the pool deck. No matter how many times Jack compressed his chest death hung low over the pale delicate body of her ten-year-old son. Rose stared at the sight before her eyes, frozen with terror. The building blocks that steadied her life were crumbling. As each wedge was removed and placed on top, her balance faltered. The gaping hole left her drowning without a life vest. When Rose considered the hypothetical difference between the sewer cesspool and their marital relations, the thought made her noxious. A yellowish translucent cylinder poked its head out of her purse. As the white top rolled between her fingers, she examined the label. Her heart raced. "Xanax, perfect," she whispered. As fast as a lizard could devour a cricket, the pill was gone. Soon the synthetic medication would course through her veins, easing the agony that slowly ate away her soul. Rose must find a solution to alleviating the pain forever. Burdened over the loss of her son's death and the marital affair, she concocts a scheme to hire the talents of a contract killer. Once Rose engages these services to eliminate the problem, he takes control of her heart as well. Mark brings an unexpected allure to the scene. The intense attraction draws Rose from her cocoon delighting them with a fervent romance. The undoable deed brings reality to a new light. Mark watches the bullet pierce the window glass and Roses arch nemesis fall from sight. Pleased to have completed his contract Mark heads for home, relishing the thought of his next encounter with Rose. But, his intentions are brought to a quick halt when he witnesses the certainty of his actions.
