Byways is a story told through poetry about walking on the wayside. There is something profound about simply putting one foot in front of the other, while the automobiles hurtle past. You see the same grand vistas, the same densely-packed woods as the people flying by, but there are many things that they will never know: The dense fog of the morning stillness, the endless repetition of the gravel flowing beneath, the quiet solitude of the mystic pines. There are always two roads, the worn and the byway, and it is up to you alone to decide which to take. Explore these everyday journeys of loss, growth, love, and the human experience in this captivating collection. Jack Hellberg is a young writer who grew up near the valley of Los Angeles, California. After leaving home, Jack began attending Brandeis University. He is now attending the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, in pursuit of his Master of Arts degree in psychology. Jack Hellberg is also an avid film photographer. All the images presented in this collection have been pulled from his portfolio. Although he uses a variety of cameras ranging in manufacture from the early 1900s to the 1960s, his camera of choice is the 1957 Hasselblad 500C. Byways is Jack Hellberg's debut collection, although his poetry has already received literary recognition, including a Gold Key Scholastic Art & Writing Award.
