A tourist destination for sportsmen and wealthy vacationers alike, Windham seemed more like a northwest version of Martha's Vineyard, than a Devil's Triangle for unwary visitors, but when a girl from the Dao, a yearly bacchanalia of out of towners held in the forest, becomes missing after visiting Reverend Strike's New Hope church, he is the likely suspect. She is not the only one missing, though, and Peter has a secret as dark as the one surrounding the disappearance of people in the forests around Windham, a secret, that if revealed, will send evil men after him to end his life in the most painful way possible. To keep his secret, Strike must solve the crime to save his life and the life of the woman he loves, Calypso, a woman, unbeknownst to him, who has secrets of her own.
