For Justin Levine, a boy living in the early 1900's, the nightmare begins when the cursed soul of a tyrannical 1600's plantation owner, Jonathan Alden, attaches to him. In the hills around Alden's plantation, a coven is formed securing a curse on the insane Alden to assure redemption for his sins. A curse so strong that even his suicide could not deter. As part of the curse, Chato, a dark spirit, is selected to follow the soul. He now begins to reveal ever so slightly the destiny that he and Levine share and that no one could imagine. A destiny that rips through the lives of innocent people, like Jezebel, her son Jerome, baby Maxwell and many others. All just pawns, to be possessed, imprisoned and ultimately destroyed. A soul writhing through time, searching for answers while regressing and transitioning into other lives, haunted by the past and haunted by the future. All in the name of salvation.
