When the play opens he has been at his daughter Sylvia's and Michael her husband for almost a month. They have endured his non-stop talking about his imaginary ailments. Leo has managed to alienate everyone he has come in contact with. At this point Sylvia and Michael are plotting to get rid of him. They have enlisted Sylvia's brother's help. Samuel/Danielle is a gay female impersonator thinking about getting a sex change The Guest is about our human condition. It deals with compassion, love, and acceptance of others as well as our selves. Above all, it touches on our abilities to change or not change as others around us do.
