Between 1894 and 1914, 2.5 million Jews were forced to abandon their homes in their native Eastern Europe for the safety and security of the Western Europe, with many escaping to America. This is the story of Fusgeyer Contingent #4, a group of sixty young Jewish men and women who left Birlad, Romania on April 1, 1904 to escape the pograms, poverty and anti-semitism of their homeland for a better life in America.
