At a posh Victorian home in San Francisco's exclusive Pacific Heights, Kelly Myers attends a political fundraiser and meets the powerful executive Larry Townsend. The two of them begin to date; and later, they fall in love and make plans for their wedding and a honeymoon in Acapulco. The wedding ceremony is dream-like perfection. For Larry, however, trouble intrudes in the form of an uninvited wedding guest who, he's certain, has been stalking him. During the reception Larry confides to his attorney that he's been the victim of harassment and intimidation in a plot to derail his efforts to break away from a business venture that is outside the law. He soon realizes he is a marked man. On their honeymoon Larry goes scuba diving alone and does not return. A search locates Larry's boat and equipment and he is presumed drowned. Kelly gradually learns of the dark side emerging from Larry's past. She learns of his participation in an illegal enterprise and that he faked his death and is alive. Kelly now questions her husband's integrity and character. Although Kelly hasn't stopped loving Larry, their situation cannot be resolved simply. Through a series of deceptions, death, and betrayal, they learn about lust and greed in the underworld, and soon realize they must join together in a powerful fight to stay alive and keep their love intact.
