Dante Gabor has survived many things since becoming a vampire, but jumping from a plane and crash landing in the desert without a parachute was pushing it, even for him. To survive, he buries his broken body in its own sandy grave, but healing was painfully slow when one only had errant reptiles to live on. Weeks (or possibly months) later, he rises in search of larger prey, half mad with thirst. Only to find himself brought to his knees by the seductive allure of a nearby human.

Laney Moss loves the Mojave desert that surrounds her home, and hikes the upper trails often. When nature calls, she answers, prepared for anything she might run across. But she's not prepared for the monster that comes with the setting sun to stalk her. In the moment before he attacks, one word crashes through her terrified mind - Vampire. She fights him off with a lethal dose of pepper spray and somehow manages to get away. But he follows the call of her blood, and Laney soon finds she's unable to resist.



Against Dante's better judgement, he takes her home to his secret lair.

Now he just needs to convince her to stay.
