Standing on a mountain in Italy, surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful views, all Esther saw for her future was the effort it took to breath and place one foot in front of the other. Given a choice between living secluded or writing down the stories she had been sharing with friends, she chose the latter. While giving honor to those who labored and loved along-side her, Esther describes a life of challenge, struggle and victory including a pre-World War II orphanage, the post-Vietnam era trials of caring for her veteran quadriplegic brother, and the traumatic loss of three young family members in a single accident. Esther has a unique way to verbally bring the reader into her life as an active participant. One can see, feel, and sympathize with all involved.
