Performance Appraisal system has been the focus of not only market enterprises but all institutions where people work together to achieve levels of performance that will bring about desired results. These organizations and institutions may be intent on making a profit or non-profit making. It is believed that good performance appraisal implementation may result in higher employee productivity, optimal utilization of the available resources, effective management of business processes and achievement of organizational goals. All these benefits accruing because the system has the value and ability in providing the employee data for decision-making, promotion, training, development, work motivation, potential-spotting,job design or counseling. In the quest to bring about desired results,the Ministry of Education in Zambia is not an exception in the implementation of performance appraisal system. This work, therefore, is an in-depth assessment of the implementation of performance appraisal system for teachers in Zambia. Four key aspects in good performance appraisal implementation were assessed. The assessment should give a clear picture on the implementation to education stakeholders
