Parenting Abu Sayed Mahfuz

(1) First and most important aspect in parenting is 'Role Model parenting'. It is not lecture; it is not teaching. It is what you practice, your children follow it. You are the role model for your children. You pray, they pray, you read they read, you work they work, you lie they lie, everything you do, they learn from you. (2) Second most important thing in Parent child relationship is the connection. It is a little difficult to explain what does this connection mean. I will use two examples: a. There is a proverb in Bangladeshi culture says, If anything happen to a child first person know about it is the mother, even mother and child might be thousands of mile apart. It doesn't mean mom will get a phone call or email; it means whatever happens to a child a mother feels it doesn't matter how a part they are.b. In the secondary scripture in Islamic is hadith, there is a prophetic saying, "Worship your Lord as you can see him, even if you don't see in physical sense, you have that connection that your Lord see you." That is the connection parent child need to have.(3) Third most important thing is 'Talk and Listen'. Yes, you need to Talk to you children and Listen to them. Certainly, there is a difference between talking and yelling or commanding, I mean 'talk' not yelling or commanding similarly, there is a difference between listening and hearing. When your child is talking and you are busy doing something else, your work, watching tv or whatso ever, you are not listening. When your child talks to you, stop whatever you are doing, look at his or her eyes and listen. (4) The fourth and last thing in todays summary is, it is you, you are the parent, you are the teacher, you are the friend, doctor, leader motivator. You are everything for a child, its you. Parenting is not any less important job than any other job in the world.
