Satori West
One mini unit of three lessons developed for Washington State fourth grade social studies. The lessons were tailored to the specific learning needs of the students in class utilizing group investigation, advanced organizer, and direct instruction lesson planning methods and constructed around the theme of power, ending with students displaying their work at a local public library. These lessons are not intended to be reproduced but are intended to demonstrate how lessons can be created using Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and California English Language Development Standards (CA-ELD). This mini unit also illustrates and utilizes peer reviewed best practices of inclusion, equity, and teaching to student differences. Since this curriculum was customized for individual learners, it is tailored to the individual learning needs of the intended audience.
