Medically retired US Army Intelligence Colonel Isaac Sanchez and his wife Kylie want to retire to the peace and quiet of Southern Colorado. They've purchased a guest ranch for a pittance from an old friend, who builds them a lovely new home on the grounds. They look forward to meeting new guests and making new friends. Their new home is in the mysterious San Luis Valley, where UFO sightings and cattle mutilations are so common they aren't even news anymore. Their first guests enter the new house through a cat door, which doesn't please the twin Maine Coon tomcats whose door it is. With a cat cataclysm, they corner the intruders: a classic Grey alien and the beautiful human-alien hybrid he created. The only defense the Grey has is his ability to project paralyzing terror into the brain of any would-be attackers. It doesn't work on the cats. It doesn't work on Ike Sanchez, either. The terror center of Ike's brain was never very big, and an explosion in combat destroyed what was left. The Grey requests asylum from the Hive full of his own kind beneath the Archuleta Mesa, just north of Dulce, New Mexico. He can no longer tolerate the way the Hive has been treating humans, and his commanders demand he kill his hybrid, which he cannot do. He's a likable individual. Ike and Kylie grant him and his hybrid asylum. In fact, his staff and friends all come to accept the two. It works out well until a fundamentalist pastor sees the alien and goes mad, insisting the alien is a demon. Out of sheer terror the pastor calls in the FBI. All hell breaks loose. So much for peace and quiet. And the hand of the powerful ones who keep the secrets will be forced by events. Can humanity survive Disclosure?
