In the Oregon Wilderness, Evil reigns. From his throne shrouded in darkness, Evil schemes at night in search of strength, stealing it from anyone who wanders too far from reality. Inexplicable structures, stairs to nowhere, sit like a cancer in the forest, calling to weak-minded explorers. The paradoxical staircases exist in a spectrum of repair and disrepair, in countless building mediums. They dominate the mood of the forest, miles away from any place where humanity practices architecture. Their sinister presence threatens the stability of the entire state. Ethan is a young apprentice welder living in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Outside of work, he and his friends enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities, from backpacking to mountain biking. Ethan's passion for the outdoors leads him to question the narrative that the Forest Service has released regarding a recent surge in disappearances. All that he sees is treachery. With the help of his backpacking buddies, Ethan dives into the wilderness to search for the truth, and he locates an impossible structure. A conflux of evil. A staircase to nowhere that defies the laws of nature. And climbing it is forbidden. Driven to find the truth, Ethan's search uncovers incomprehensible realities, and delivers him the greatest challenge he has ever faced. He forges a new friendship but creates countless new enemies. And when disaster threatens to strike, he is faced with a pivotal decision: fade back into anonymity or rise to the challenge and restore balance to the forests that he loves so dearly.
