In it, Carroll describes his unique practices when writing and classifying his correspondence. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Daresbury, Cheshire, UK, January 27, 1832-Guildford, Surrey, UK, January 14, 1898), better known by his pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was an Anglican deacon, logician, mathematician, photographer, and British writer. His best-known works are Alice in Wonderland and its continuation, Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there. Dodgson's ancestors came mainly from the north of England, with some Irish connections. Conservatives and members of the Anglican High Church, most of them devoted themselves to the two characteristic professions of the English upper-middle class:
