Tori Anne is a small-town poet from Southeast Louisiana with "trigger warning" being her debut collection of poetry. This book follows the author's struggles with Mental Illness and into her Recovery. The book consist of four main chapters (floating, sinking, drowning, and coming up for air) and one bonus chapter, entitled, "poems that deserve a home, too." Chapter one, "floating" showcases the beginnings of depression and mental illness. Chapter two, "sinking" shows the depression getting worse and the illness going from one to a multitude. Chapter three, "drowning" captures the lowest of lows and when the question to go on is a thought everyday. Chapter four, "coming up for air" brings a sense of hope with the ability to show that there is a light at the end and there is a lesson to be learned in it all about resilience and strength. The final "P. S." chapter is "poems that deserve a home, too" and it is filled with six poems that did not fit within the main chapters, but the author wanted to include their messages. The writing of the collection served as a way of healing for the author, but the hopes that it could help another lost soul is what brought the book to life. The author details in twisted lines the highs and lows of a raw battle that often was only known to herself. The collection became what it is in hopes that it inspires others to talk about that they are going through because, more than likely, you will find that you actually are not alone in your struggles.
