Samantha Morton stars in the title role of this emotional drama based on real events. The story follows the life of Annie Parker who is diagnosed with breast cancer after losing both her mother and sister to the same disease. Shortly after coming to terms with her initial diagnosis, Annie is dealt another blow when she discovers her husband Paul (Aaron Paul) has been cheating on her with one of her closest friends.

As Annie continues to battle the disease, geneticist Mary-Claire King (Helen Hunt) pursues research that she believes can prove the hereditary link responsible for some forms of cancer.
