Yet despite its outward-looking concerns, "PLAY ME" is an inward-facing album, where heightened emotional intensity pulses through physical jams and resists fixed statements in favor of an open-ended curiosity that keeps Gordon searching.

The lead single “Not Today” is another strikingly vital statement from Kim Gordon. It charges forward effortlessly like an indie rock anthem from a bygone era, but with a nearly deconstructed undercurrent that makes the song unmistakably Gordon’s own.
