After an extended sabbatical from vinyl output, Starkey & Dev79’s renowned Seclusiasis imprint is returning to wax action, now fully refurbished with a shiny new Cargo worldwide exclusive distribution deal in their pocket. Seclusiasis has been presenting a consistently unique view of bleeding edge urban electronic sounds since 2006. Forged in diversity and influenced by a variety of audio flavours, the Philadelphia-based label runs the gamut from dubstep to hip hop to electro-pop and more, all gathered under a style and pattern they call Street Bass, and all subject to the same high standards and tight quality control as Starkey & Dev apply to their own prolific output on labels like Planet Mu, Slit Jockey, Civil, LoDubs, Rwina, and Butterz. Making his mark in the burgeoning North America scene and holding his own with any UK producers claiming rights to the future sound of garage music, Kastle’s summer 2010 debut download single on Seclusiasis, ‘Better Off Alone’, left more than a few jaws dropped, and now the wait for more is over, with his highly anticipated debut 12” set to propel him even further into the limelight. The popularity of bass-heavy dance music is spreading like wildfire across the world, with many producers crafting new hybrids of dubstep, grime and garage. Pittsburgh DJ/producer Kastle has cultivated his own style of bass-heavy beats with a soulful twist reminiscent of classic Chicago house, which has already made him the focus of strong media attention from the likes of XLR8R, URB and Fact. His production has seen him working with labels such as Ministry of Sound and Scion A/V and he has remixed artists such as Example, Blu Mar Ten and The Glitch Mob.
